Man’s hand severed attempting to tow car in Adelaide’s south


A man’s hand has been severed while attempting to tow a car in a shocking New Year’s Eve accident in Adelaide.

Emergency crews were called to Lady Gowrie Drive in Largs North just before 8pm on Sunday.

The man had tried to fix a rope between two cars.

The female driver of the front car inched forward, and the rope tightened around the man’s left wrist. His hand was cut off in the accident.

An off-duty nurse witnessed the scene and provided vital first aid.

The severed hand was put on ice and the man sent to The Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment.
